Hikaru made her Avex Artist Academy debut in 2016 as a member of the J-pop project duo +GANG. She was referred to as Hikarun when marketing as a member of the duo. They split up in 2018, yet she continued to work as an artist for Avex.
Girls Planet 999, Kep1er: 2021
Hikaru's participation in Girls Planet 999 as a member of J-Group was disclosed in July 2021. She performed a version of BLACKPINK's "Boombayah" for her evaluation performance, garnering numerous good reviews from the judge panel and earning a spot in the TOP9. Her first Planet Top 9 rank was P01, and her original rank was J01. She was the season's first contestant to enter first place and one of the only participants to never exit the Planet Top 9. Hikaru finished seventh in the final episode on October 22 with 713,322 points and 387,709 votes, making her a member of the show's final group Kep1er.
The introduction of the website Hello, Kep1er on November 21 announced that the group will make its debut in December 2021.
